Crochet 2 + 4 Rectangle Afghan

Crochet 2 + 4 Afghan

2 + 4 Afghan by Jeanne Steinhilber

Today I’m excited to introduce the crochet 2 + 4 Crochet Afghan. This simple classic will surely become a regular in your collection of crcohet projects.

First of all, you are probably wondering why I’ve called it 2 + 4 Afghan. My secret, I love to count when I stitch and when it’s a simple count, I can hook very fast. So while crocheting this afghan, I counted, 1, 2 and 1, 2, 3, 4… over and over! Michael was recently questioned about crocheters and counting. He has a video coming soon explaining the obsession that you won’t want to miss!

From the middle afghans are my favorite to stitch. Squares are really my preference, but I do get so many requests for rectangle shaped ones, that I decided to give this one a go combining filet into a granny-like afghan. I kept to the 2 + 4 them with my colors, only needing 3 balls of Caron One Pound yarn to crochet this easy blanket. The free download includes a diagram for the blanket by Michael if you prefer the charts over the written instructions.

This blanket can also be adjusted to it’s rectangle size based on Michael’s math for creating rectangle granny afghans. Use the multiples of 6 chs + 7 to adjust your rectangle following the suggested starting chains from the article: Rectangle Granny Afghans: All Sizes Pattern
